This is ELFIS. He is our Christmas Elf. He comes to our house on December 1 every year. He has a very important job. Every day he watches the happenings of our household and every night he flies back to the North Pole to give a report to Santa Claus.
The next morning he chooses a different vantage point in our home, and when the children wake up, they run to find his new spot. When they wake up on Christmas morning, he is gone - until December 1 of the next year.
The children are very much aware that Christmas is about the birth of Christ, and not so much about Santa Claus: his elves, reindeer, gifts, rosy cheeks. Our Christmas Elf (from The Elf on the Shelf) has been a sweet tradition, however, that the children have enjoyed immensely. The season of Christmas is magical for them, and I pray that that never changes.
